On the previous page, we focused on the problem of a herniated disc. What other conditions cause back pain besides herniated discs? See what problems we are able to get rid of with the help of the most modern procedures.
WHAT IS A DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE?
Degenerative disc disease is a state of decreasing water content in the masses of the intervertebral disc. Gradual damage leads to erosion of the disc and thus a reduction in resistance. In this spinal disease, the discs become more susceptible to damage during physical exertion. Other degenerative disc processes can lead to narrowing of the spinal canal. A possible consequence is spinal pain and an effect on nerve functions.
WHAT IS A FACET SYNDROM?
Facets are the back joints of the spine, which connect the individual vertebrae to each other. Facet syndrome can be caused by injury or disc degeneration and is characterized by pain, stiffness and inflammation. The pain generally increases with movement and is relieved when the patient is at rest.
WHAT IS A SCIATICA?
Sciatica is a condition often associated with a herniated or ruptured disc. This is a condition where the damaged disc presses on at least one of the nerve roots leading to the lower limbs. This manifests as a sharp pain, shooting through the buttocks into one or both lower limbs. Accompanying symptoms are usually tingling, burning, or numbness. Sciatica can appear suddenly or develop slowly over time. The pain and symptoms of sciatica can be aggravated by coughing, sneezing or staying in a forced position.
